America is the most greed filled nation in the world and we are continually urged by the cunning and sly advertisements of popular companies. If drinking a “Great tasting Miller Lite” will get the drop dead gorgeous blond in the club to talk to me, then why doesn’t every guy in there have one in his hand? Because although many consumers realize some schemes of advertisements there is always hope in the back of his mind that was subconsciously put there by a commercial.

Companies have sneaky ways of convincing consumers that they either need a product desperately or that with the product endless rewards will follow. These tactics implemented by Corporate America are only used to try and distinguish products that are comparable in all fields of their uses. Advertisements are being used along with clever marketing schemes to trick consumers into buying the laundry detergent in the red bottle because it stands out more on the shelf while it is the same all the other detergents.
My absolute favourite advertisements have to do with low carbohydrate items including milk, juice, and health bars. At one point in time health and more specifically protein bars were just what they sound like, a snack jam packed with so much protein your steak could be envious. Usually loaded with carbohydrates a protein bar could be used as a meal replacement or an after work out quick fix. But now our country along with clever companies have created a low carbohydrate craze that has even consumed the protein bar.
I came across an advertisement in Muscle & Fitness magazine for a protein bar made by PowerBar, a popular maker of supplement bars. In this advertisement is a man dribbling a basketball just wearing shorts who is in prime physical condition with the words “Go ahead, be skins.” Looming directly over his head, this is a reference to splitting the players into two teams one wearing shirts and the other not.
