The role of women and minorities throughout the history of policing has been limited. Women and minorities in police history have been denied working a beat or being selected for a higher rank. In communities that were predominately minorities, such as Hispanic neighborhoods, that is when more Hispanice officers would patrol in the area and when the community is more African American they had more African Americans to patrol. The selection process has also changed for the role of women and minorities such as jobs that women and minorities can do, the rank that they can achieve, and normal patrol areas. Women and minorities are now able to move up to a rank as high as the police chief, and it’s not about their gender or race, but about their performance. The segregation against women and minorities within their force and the way that they are treated has also changed……………………………….
