Are juveniles truly capable of understanding the seriousness and consequences of their actions? If so, at what age are they capable of understanding? At what age should juveniles be tried as adults? Explain your answers.

I believe that any juvenile that does not have a learning disability is more than capable of understanding the seriousness and consequences of their actions. I believe that juveniles at the age of twelve are able to comprehend right from wrong. The media is raising a lot of children and a lot of juveniles are learning at a fast pace what crime is and how to commit crime. If a juvenile can make up his or her mind to commit a crime then it is my belief that they should be punished for it. Depending on the seriousness of the crime I believe that juveniles should be tried as adults as early as possible may be 12 or 13. If a juvenile can come up with a way to precisely commit a crime like adults then I don’t see anything wrong with juveniles being tried as adults. There needs to be an example set for other juveniles that participate or wants to participate in criminal factitias. There needs to be a punishment set for juveniles that will alarm others around them of the consequences of criminal behavior. After a certain age children are aware of what they are doing and who they hurt when they are doing so and crime should not be tolerated at any age just my opinion………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
